CC2640R2F: Inquiry About CC2640R2F Chips Preprogrammed with OAD Capable Bootloader

Part Number: CC2640R2F

Hello,

I am part of project team preparing to develop a Bluetooth-enabled device using the CC2640R2F. Our device is designed to leverage Over-the-Air Download (OAD) capabilities for firmware updates, which is crucial for our project's success. We are exploring options for streamlining our prototype development and eventual production process by obtaining CC2640R2F chips that are preprogrammed with an OAD-capable bootloader.

I would be grateful if the community or any TI representatives could help clarify the following:

  1. Does TI offer a service to provide CC2640R2F chips preprogrammed with an OAD-capable bootloader ?
  2. What are the specific requirements and conditions for obtaining such preprogrammed chips?
  3. How can we initiate a discussion or arrangement for this service with TI?
  4. Any shared experiences, advice, or insights from similar projects would be highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your support and any guidance you can provide to help us efficiently manage our project’s development phase.

Best regards,

  • Hi,

    Thank you for reaching  out.

TI does not offer pre-programmed devices. However, note that the CC2640R2F offers a serial bootloader in ROM (accessible through UART or SPI).

Even if TI does not provide pre-programmed chips, you can reference the OAD examples available in the SDK. Third party companies can then handle the device flashing for you.

    I hope this will help,

    Best regards,
