CC2340R5: HCI_EXT_SetRxGainCmd for CC2340

Part Number: CC2340R5

Tool/software:

My customer is using HCI_EXT_SetRxGainCmd in order to improve the range, it did work but is there any tradeoffs to use the high gain receiver? Does it impact the performance in short distance? Does CC2340 still be able to meet the RF regulations with the high gain receiver?

Best regards,

Shuyang

  • Hi Shuyang,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Could you please walk me through the way the test is run by the customer? Which SDK is being used?

The reason I am asking is because, HCI_EXT_SetRxGainCmd  command is not expected to have any impact on the CC2340Rx devices.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Clément,

    Thank you for your answer.

    Ths sdk is 7_40_00_64.

Test method: On an open ground, using four identical modules simultaneously, divide the modules into two groups. One group sets the receiving gain to HCI-EXT-RX_GAIN-HIGH, and the other group is set to HCI-EXT-RX_GAIN-STD. At the same time, under the same conditions, it was found that the communication distance between the group set to HCI-EXT-RX_GAIN-HIGH is about 140 meters, and the group set to HCI-EXT-RX_GAIN-STD is about 100 meters.

  • Hi,

Thank you for the additional details.

As mentioned, calling HCI_EXT_SetRxGainCmd is not expected to impact radio performances. RF certification is not impacted by this function.

    Best regards,
