CC2340R5: Internal pullup / pulldown values

Hi all,

I am wondering about the values of the GPIO internal pullup and pulldown resistors in the CC2340R5. They are not provided in the datasheet.

Also the technical reference manual mentions the following: " Programmable control for DIO configuration: – Weak pull-up or pull-down resistors "

What are these weak pull-ups or pull-downs?

Hi Til,

The GPIO pull-up / pull-down strength is defined by current in the data sheet (see 8.19.4 of https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/cc2340r5.pdf). We specify the pull current at both ends of the recommended operating voltage, 1.8V and 3.8V.

The reference is the TRM you mention is for both DIO being used with peripherals other than GPIO as well as for the GPIO peripheral.

Hi Til,

As shown in the data sheet it's variable. For the resistance value just use Ohm's law. For example typical GPIO pull up current at 1.8V VDDS is 65.84uA so that the equivalent resistance would be 27.3k-ohm. If you need a more precise and static value or a stronger pull, such as for I2C, then I would recommend picking an appropriate external resistor.
