C5000 Bluetooth

I've asked this question over in the C5000 forum but haven't gotten a response yet.

Is there are Bluetooth solution for the C5000 processors? This post http://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/tms320c5000_power-efficient_dsps/f/110/p/122469/436507.aspx#436507 indicates that there is but doesn't provide any details. This post http://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/tms320c5000_power-efficient_dsps/f/109/p/133626/483889.aspx#483889 also mentions that the PAN1315 Bluetooth module is compatible with the expansion header on the C5535 eZdsp development kit.

The missing piece of information is the details on the Bluetooth stack that can be used with this platform. Is it the same Stonestreet One Bluetopia stack that is used on the Stellaris platform? I assume that it would need to be compiled specifically for the C5000 processors and couldn't be copied from the StellarisWare distribution. Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.

Adam,

There is no out of the box example for Bluetooth on the C5000. You can use any stack that is available and can be ported to run. To use the Stonestreet One stack you will need to engage with them directly to enable them to port it.

There is another alternative. A new stack called BTStack is available and runs on the MSP430:

Given that it's open source, it might be possible to port to the C5000. However, it is not certified like the Stonestreet One/Mindtree stacks.

Thanks for the information. The processor Wiki page http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/C5000_Software_Algorithms says that Bluetooth is under development. Are there any future plans for this or is this old/incorrect information.

My application requires streaming audio (likely A2DP) and I think that the Stellaris solution is my best option. The C5000 option sounded attractive because it included the audio codecs and seems be more tailored to handling audio. I am open to suggestions if you have any other solutions.

Is there any disadvantages to using a non-certified stack?

I am not sure about the support of Bluetooth for C5000. I will check to see whether there is such a support. Yes, given that you need A2DP, the Stone Street stack would be the best choice. I forgot to mention but if you can run linux, Bluez is another stack that's available and there are demos for example for the AM18xx that have A2DP.

If using a non-certified stack, you may not claim certification or use the BT logo and other elements.

I was doing a bit more research and came across this document (page 31 onwards) from TI that I thought might help. It seems to indicate that Bluetooth is slated for the C5000 platform.
