Dear TI Team,

I am currently working on a BLE module, specifically the CC2340R5, and my project is based on the data_stream example provided in the SimpleLink Low Power F3 SDK version 8.10.01.02. I need to implement the Apple Notification Center Service (ANCS) to receive incoming call notifications from iOS devices.

I have identified an ANCS example for the CC2640R2 available in older SDKs, specifically version 2.20. However, I require an examples that align with the newer SDK versions or APIs available in the SDK version 8.10.01.02 to implement the ANCS functionality effectively.

Could you please provide any relevant examples, documentation, or suggestions that adhere to the newer SDK versions or APIs to help achieve the desired ANCS functionality for the CC2340R5?

Hi Shivam,

We do not have any pre-made CC2340R5 ANCS example avaiable, but the device is able to support an ANCS use-case. I would recommend referencing the CC2640R2 implementation of the ANCS and leveraging the migration guides available on the F3 SDK to go from the CC2640R2 to the CC2340R5.

The datastream project is a good starting point. I suggest starting with that example and referencing the ANCS project to add the logic. You will need to refactor some of the logic as APIs have changed and the SDK has changed considerably between generations and releases.

Hi Jan,

I am fully aware that there is no existing ANCS example for the CC2340R5. However, I would appreciate it if you could provide some references or documentation for the APIs in the F3 SDK that could assist me in implementing ANCS functionality. In the meantime, I will continue to work on your suggestion.

Hi Jan,

As previously mentioned, in my case, the CC2340R5 is currently configured to act as a peripheral and server. To implement ANCS, I need to configure it as a client as well. Could you please confirm whether the CC2340R5 can function solely as a peripheral or if it supports both peripheral and central roles to implement the ANCS?

The CC2340R5 is able to support a multirole (central + peripheral) use-case.

Hi,

I have attached the following project which uses the GATT_DiscPrimaryServiceByUUID() and GATT_DiscAllChars() to discover the characteristics and service of a connected central device. Afterwards, you should be able to use the attribute handles to write/read/notify the desired characteristic. If it is desired to discover the characteristic by UUID, then the GATT_DiscCharsByUUID() should be used. The relevant code snippets are shown below:
