CC2564CSTBTBLESW: Support library for HCI Implementation

Part Number: CC2564CSTBTBLESW
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2564C, CC256XB-BT-SP, CC256XSTBTBLESW, CC2560B

Tool/software:

Hi There,

Wanted to get more information on CC2564CSTBTBLESW. In one of the implementation we are using HCI interface between the controller (PAN1326C2) and Host (STM32 MCU). Instead of using the complete stack, we want to use the related firmware which can support HCI interface. Any related information or a library with HCI support is what I am looking at.

Thanks !

  • Hi Sujit,

Here is the .bts file that has the firmware patches.

    https://www.ti.com/tool/CC256XC-BT-SP

The CC2564C is a 5.1 certified device so it will accept any of the required HCI commands from the BT Sig. There are also Vendor Specific commands for our device which you can find here.

    https://www.ti.com/lit/an/swra751/swra751.pdf

By default, the device supports the HCILL uart protocol however you can change this to whichever UART protocol you would like to communicate with.

    Best,

  • Hi RogelloD,

Thanks for the prompt reply. Will check this and get back. So you mean it is backward compatible by applying the patch ?

  • Hi,

What do you mean by backwards compatible?

  • Hi  Actually, in middle of a project came across this issue. Please find it in details below:

In one of our designs we are using PAN1326C2 BT/BLE module (Chip set: TI's CC2564C ) which in turn communicates with another design (BT Qualified, released product) which has PAN1315B module (chip set: CC2560B) with Host init scripts from CC256XSTBTBLESW/CC256XB-BT-SP (meeting core spec 4.2).

Of late, we have initiated discussions with BQC and we understand that we need to comply to New process that got effective this July 1, 2024., meaning we have to perform some additional testing of already qualified designs per the new TCRL released and/or have to execute test if in case the OEM decide to go with single mode of operation using a Module which has got qualified for dual mode operation.

BQC is now proposing, couple of more tests to us, as our products are working in Classic mode. We want to go ahead of EPL with TI's DID:D032797/QDID: 85355 of TI 4.2 Bluetopia SW's (Host subsystem) & all the available reports are of Dual mode function only and not on single mode functions i.e., either LE only or BR/EDR only.

We would like to know, whether TI has qualified for BR/EDR (aka Classic) mode alone as subset ID of the super set DID:D032797/QDID: 85355? If yes, Can you be able to share those reports and Subset ID details with us. With that we will try to discuss with BQC to accept the report and have our product listed.

Appreciate your quick reply in this regard.

    Sujit

  • Hi Sujit,

Unfortunately both devices B and C have only ever been qualified as a dual mode controller and not as a single mode controller. You would have to redo qualification with the BQC if you would like to go down that route, however, keep in mind the B version of the controller will no longer pass new certification standards.

    Best,

    Rogelio

  • Thank for the quick reply. Let us check, how we can proceed further on this. Thank you so much.
