CC2651R3: Display Device ADVERTISE name as per display selected instead of CC2651R3

Part Number: CC2651R3
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

Tool/software:

Dear TI Team,

Microcontroller:CC2651R3

SDK:simplelink_cc13xx_cc26xx_sdk_7_41_00_17

CCS version CCS12.7

I am writing to request an update regarding the advertisement name for the display device in our current project. At present, the BLE device is being advertised as "CC2651R3," but I would like to have this name reflect the specific display that is selected, as it would provide better clarity and assist in identifying the device more effectively.

Could you please guide me on how to update or configure the advertisement name so that it corresponds to the selected display rather than the default "CC2651R3"? If there are any specific steps or modifications required, I would greatly appreciate your detailed guidance.

Thank you

Regards,

Aarohi Shirbavikar

  • Hello,

    Thank you for reaching out.

First of all, please allow me to describe the most "casual" way of setting the device name.
The device's name is configurable through SysConfig, under BLE > General Configuration > Device Name.
Then, when enabled to do so, the advertisement sets (configured under SysConfig > BLE > Broadcaster Configuration > Advertisement Data) will advertise the same name.

You could consider modifying the advertisement data dynamically - if this is what you are asking for. Such data is generated by SysConfig (based on the parameters I mentioned before) and stored in the file ti_ble_config.c

To finish, please allow me to give you one head's up. Phone generally cache the device's name and may not update it unless they are forced to.

    I hope this will help,

    Best regards,
