I have a question about SDK Version of CC2640R2F

If consider change SDK to last version. It have affect from change SDK version or not?

Please recommend SDK version for support project Simple serial socket.

Hi Vasu,

It is ideally to always be on the latest SDK version to ensure you have the most stable version of the SDK. If the Simple Serial Socket example is critical for your application, then I would suggest moving to atleast the 3.40 SDK as there is a version of that example for that SDK version in the ble examples guide: https://github.com/TexasInstruments/ble_examples/tree/simplelink_cc2640r2_sdk-3.40

We offer migration guides that assist with migrating projects from one SDK version to another. If possible, then I would highly recommend moving to the latest SDK using these guides:

After try to update SDK. I found error both SDK 3.40.00.10 and SDK 5.30.00.03

How to fix this issues?

Hi Vasu,

Are you using the CCS version specified in the SDK release notes for each of these SDKs? Also, can you verify if the SDKs are showing up in the products page of the CCS IDE?

Hi Jan,

I try SDK 3.40.00.10 in CCS version 10.1.1.00004

but before update SDK I use CCS version 10.1.1.00004 with SDK Version 3.30.00.20 not found error

Hi Jan,

I try to change compiler version is 18.12.3. Result not found error but if compiler version 18.12.4 It found error.

I don't understand why to occur problem from compiler?

I supspect.

SDK 3.40.00.10 can't use compiler version 18.12.4 but from release notes recommend version 18.12.4.

First, I start project and import example from SDK 3.30.00.20 (release note recommend compiler 18.12.3) and then I change SDK is 3.40.00.10 but same project. or my project support with compiler version 18.12.3

Glad to hear the issue seems to have been resolved. This makes sense as each SDK version is tested with a particular toolchain configuration so its likely we were using one that was not supported.

If I use SDK 5.30.1.11 for my project Simple serial socket. Can I use SDK last version?

Can you compare SDK version 5.30.1.11 and 3.40.00.10? I need detail. I see user's guide no detail of SDK. How different of SDK?

I consider upgrade SDK from versioin 3.30.00.20 to new version.

Hi Vasu,

There are many changes on both the ble4 and ble 5 stacks as well as the drivers between those SDK releases. To get a precise list of the differences, then I would highly recommend referencing the release notes of the releases between those SDK releases. Mainly, I would expect bug fixes and software improvements between those releases.

OK, Comeback to update SDK.

I try SDK. I found suspect point in memory flash.

Please see figure below on flash last page it use memory increase in SDK version 5.30.1.11

- SDK version 5.30.1.11

- SDK version 3.40.00.10

- SDK version 3.30.00.20

This is normal case or should not occur?

Summary If I update from SDK 3.30.00.20 to SDK 5.30.1.11

It not have problem. Can I use this SDK with my project simple serial socket?

In change log, I see BLE5-Stack New Features update All examples support CC2640R2L and (TI-RTOS and Drivers) only. Other is Fixed bug.

If you migrate the project to 5.30, then I do not expect there to be any issues once the migration is complete.

Hi Jan,

I follow rebuild project.

If import new project simple serial socket. then, not rebuild sdk 3.30.00.20 before rebuild sdk 5.30.1.11

So, rebuild not pass "ble5_simple_serial_socket_server_cc2640r2lp_app.out" this file it error.

Have you ever encountered such an event?

I don't know why it occur?

Hi,

The usual procedure is use the simple peripheral SDKv5.30 as base, then port the simple serial socket from SDKv3.30. It's a lot of work.

As I have mentioned it is a lot of work. There are no quick solutions.

If using the latest SDKv5.30 is not a strict requirement, then just use SDKv3.40.

Hi,

If still use SDK 5.30 and step first compiler in SDK 3.30 after that compiler next in SDK 5.30 (Not found error).

Should I do or not?
