CC2642R: TX, RX and advertisement Power consumption questions

Part Number: CC2642R

Tool/software:

Hello expert,

I received a following questions from my customer.

Can you please support for these questions?

------

I would like to ask you a few questions about the CC2642R.

1. In the datasheet 8.14.2 RX current, 8.14.3 about the graph of TX current, What current does the current on the vertical axis indicate?

Is it the current consumption of the entire current include microcontroller?

Is it possible to tell the increase current when TX and RX are used,  instead of the current consumption of the entire microcontroller?

2.  Please tell us the current consumption when advertising BLE communication. (Is it the same as TX current?)

Also, is it possible to change the time of an advertisement communication? If it is determined by the IC or BLE definition?

we would like to know the time of an advertisement time (even the typ. value is OK).

3. Please tell us the current consumption in the 60°C environment of the above (TX, RX, advertise).

-------

Regards,

A.Fujinaka

  • Hello Akihiko,

    1. It is the total current. You can see that the Active mode RX: 6.9 mA under normal conditions (around 25 C). You also have the MCU current during active mode: 3.4 mA
    2. Yes, it should be the same TX power as the one you see in the datesheet based on the TX power (dBm) you have set of course. You can change this in the advertising parameters, by default it is usually set to 100 ms.
    3. You can take a look at the graphs shown in page 29 and 30 respectively, there you can see the current consumption depending on temperature variation. RX - 7.1 mA, TX - 7.5 mA

    BR,

    David.

  • Hello David,

    1. So , RX RF current (exclude CPU current)  is 6.9-3.4 = 3.5mA  at 25C?

    Regards,

    A.Fujinaka

  • Hello Akihiko,

That is what I would understand as well considering the core is active.

    BR,

    David.
