Low Power for Bluetooth 2?

Hello

I am looking for 4 days now a solution to make a battery powered bluetooth system that needs to be run on single battery for 1 year or 2.

I found the MSP430xxx MIcroController i thought i could use it some how?

But then i found the CC2540 which was exactly what i need.. but i realsied a day later that i only supports BT4 and not backwards becasue of new protocol

Is there any solution from TI for something like the cc2540 in the same price range? I mean in 3-4USD in bulk? I found the cc2560 but it costs 9USD? and i still need to get a microcontroller to do things with it seperately .

I dont know where to look any more- I need this device to sleep 99% of time and only wake on MAC query and send some basic data for cheapest way ..

Can somebody help please...

Peter,

Our Bluetooth devices are CC254x (BLE single mode) and CC256x (BT and BT/BLE dual mode) at this moment. Are you looking for Bluetooth wireless technology specifically? Otherwise, you could look into our sub 1GHz wireless chips.

Yes the CC254x is excelelnt solution because it is programmable.. But only iPhone4 supports BLE at this stage.Not good

I am looking at the WiLink 6 /5 but they need a MCU like MSP430? and antennas?

Also i found CC2567+PAN1327 with antennat but also needs MCU right?

WL1271-TiWi looks like a fantastic solution especially for power saving. But it needs MCU again?

Ideally I am looking for a single-chip configuration but for Bluetooth 2.1EDR

I have somebody who is ready to design PCB - but if there is a ready solution for not too much USD then it wiould be great. I want to make thousands.

Does MODULE mean the MSP430 is integrated?

So what is the module? Has it got the MCU on it already so it can get programmed.

Peter,

All our classic Bluetooth devices, C256x and WL127x, require a separate host to operate. The host could be a MCU (microcontroller) or a MPU (microprocessor) which runs the BT stack.

Regarding your question on the module reference, it refers to the Bluetooth radio only and it does not include the host. The idea behind the module is to ease and simplify your development from the RF perspective.

You forgot to metion that the TABLE SoC _ Which i know figured out means System On Component?? So that does not need an MCU/MPU..?

Peter,

Your understanding is correct. You don't necessarily need a host to operate those devices.
