CC2640: Tuning Bluetooth parameters - scan window and scan interval

Part Number: CC2640

Tool/software:

Hello TI support

I am working for Honeywell BMS group from Duluth GA. We are using CC2640 in our product Inncom E7 thermostat for Bluetooth communication.

We suspect CC2640 chip being too slow processing in Bluetooth communication resulting in multiple connection retries and delays in processing messages.

We want TI’s technical support guidance in tweaking BLE advertisement scan window (for how long we scan) and scan interval (how often we initiate scan).

Raising this question here for support per Anjli's guidance (attached email for reference).

Balaji

RE External RE Support to get Texas Instruments contacts.msg

  • Hello Balaji,

Thanks for reaching out. Please help me with the following question to understand better the case:

    1. What SDK version are you using? Are you using blestack (BLE spec 4.2) or ble5stack (BLE spec 5)?
    2. Where is the communication slow? You mention connection retries, does it mean that the CC2640 device is working as a peripheral and requires multiple attempts to establish a connection with the central?
    3. Are you using the CC2640 configured as peripheral? Who/what device is the central (is it a phone)?
    4. What is operations are causing delays during processing the messages? Are these gatt writes/ gatt notifications / reads?
    5. Could you also share a bit more about your test environment? is it RF noisy? How many devices are attempting the connection?

    BR,

    David.
