CC2340R5-Q1: Where should we place 10uF at RHB package? VDDR pin#1? or VDDR pin #27?

Part Number: CC2340R5-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi,

In EVM schematic, I assume L1 and C105 are used to fulfill the requirement of datasheet pg.17, “7.4 Note(2) A 10uH and 10uF load capacitor are required on the VDDR voltage rail. They should be placed close to the DCDC output pin.” which is not a problem to us.

The 10uF capacitor placement we want to check is at datasheet p.18,7.5 Note(1) A 10 µF capacitor is recommended at VDDR pin.Where should we place this another 10uF at RHB package? VDDR Pin#1 or VDDR Pin#27?

  • James,

When utilizing the DCDC output you will need to include one 10uH inductor and one 10uF capacitor as is stated in note 2 of section 7.4.

“7.4 Note(2) A 10uH and 10uF load capacitor are required on the VDDR voltage rail. They should be placed close to the DCDC output pin.”

If this configuration is implemented in the design no other 10uF caps need to be included into the design. However it is recommended that a 0.1uF cap be placed near VDDR pins 1 and 27 (one cap per pin).

Section 7.5 applies only when the GLDO is going to be utilized in the design instead of the DCDC. In this configuration, the designer only needs to include one 10uF cap and this should be placed near VDDR pin 27 per the description of pin 27 in table 6-1 of the datasheet.

    Regards,

    Andrew
