WL18XX-BT-SP: Need to access latest security patches of TI bluetopia BLE stack

Hello,

I am Suhel Mulla. I am part of the firmware team in Philips Healthcare Innovation Centre at Pune, India. 

We have used modified version of TI bluetopia BLE stack for one of our ventilators. The stack runs on TI WL-18xx series of Wi-Fi Bluetooth combo chip.

I need access to latest security patches of bluetopia BLE stack for our future software release.

Could you please let me know if such security patches are released by TI bluetopia team regularly and if yes, from where I can access them?

    Thank you for the reply.

    I am new to this WL1831 chip.
    We are using the WL1831 chip with Linux. Linux code is on ARM cortex A8 based processor.
    I am going through the chip documentation.

    I have some basic questions:

    1. Does BTS is nothing but the bluetooth stack for the chip?
    2. What is the procedure Procedure to update the BLE stack? Is there any document related to it?
    3. Are latest BLE security updates available separately or the security updates are part of BTS only?
    4. We are already using the WL1831 chip in our product (Philips ventilator). The product is in the market.
    Can the latest BLE stack be updated in our firmware for free or it is paid?

    Hi Suhel,

    1.) The bts file has nothing to do with the Bluetooth stack. The BTS is the bluetooth script that runs hci commands that rewrites some memory address on the chip to update the firmware.

    2.) The BLE stack is updated by TI. The most current update was the 5.1.1.1 update. It can be found here.

    3.) The latest updates for controller Firmware are done BTS only. For the Bluetopia stack the updates are released with a new SDK version.

    4.) You can take the latest stack on the link included above and the latest BTS file in the link below. All for free.
