CC2650: Connecting a CC2650 to another bluetooth device

Part Number: CC2650

Tool/software:

Dear Experts,

I have a CC2650 sensor tag which I am trying to pair with another Bluetooth device such that the sensor data from the CC2650 is transfered to this other bluetooth device.

Please I need your advice on how to do this.

I am able to see my other Bluetooth device when I scan with Sensor Tag app.

Thanks

  • Hello,

Thanks for reaching out! Is the sensor tag acting as a central device or a peripheral device? Also, what type of Bluetooth device are you trying to connect to?

Could you also provide Compiler and SDK version?

    Best Regards,

    Tarek

  • Hi Takek, Thank you for your quick reply. Actually I want to use the sensor tag as a peripheral device. I have a WLAN /Bluetooth chipset on the mainboard of our product. I want to confirm that the sensor tag can connect successfully via bluetooth to the bluetooth host on our product. I also want the sensor tag to transfer its sensor data to the host device.

So I want to the following:

    1. Connect sensor tag over bluetooth to Cypress  LBEE5XV2EA-SMP bluetooth module on our host product

    2. Transfer or read the sensor data from our host device

At this point, I am able to connect my host monitor to my mobile phone bluetooth or any other bluetooth peripherals via HCI commands.

I would like to know if there is a step I need to take to also connect the sensor tag via bluetooth to my host device and possibly read out the data (may be via cloud or some commands).

    I have the following devices:

    1. CC2650STK HW Rev: 1.3.2 & SW Rev. : 1.3.0

    2. Multi-standard CC2650 Launchpad (LAUNCHXL-CC2650). HW Rev: 1.3.0 & SW Rev. : 0.90

    Your support would be appreciated.

    Best regards,

    Segun

  • Hello Segun,

Thank you for your patience! If the sensor tag is advertising (based on what you're seeing in the app), and the sensor tag is set to peripheral, you should be able to connect to it. All you need is to get your central device to connect to the tag. It would also be a good idea to check the connection parameters on both devices. I hope this solves your problem!

    Best Regards,
