Tool/software:

I will be using the CC2651R3SIPA module with a MSPM0 as my main MCU. I am only planning on using the CC2651R3SIPA as a Bluetooth LTE Tx/Rx - the price point and integrated antenna are the reasoning we are selecting this.

I've been looking at the Eval Board design files (LP-CC2651R3SIPA). Can I be directed to the simplest integration for using the CC2651R3SIPA as a simple Bluetooth Tx/Rx module that interfaces with an external MCU? I really only need:

communication between the CC2651R3SIPA module and our main MCU
CC2651R3SIPA module transmit/receive Bluetooth via integrated antenna.

Hi Alec,

In this case, I would recommend referencing the LP design and copying it as close as possible with the exception of wiring out the UART pins to the M0 device. I would recommend the host_test project as this will allow you to fully control the BLE functionality of the R3SIPA device over UART from the M0 device.

Hi Jan, so essentially this is all I need to do? And then it seems like virtually all of the DIO_x pins can be configured for UART_TX, UART_RX, UART_RTS, UART, CTS - so I can just select whichever pins are most convenient? I was planning on routing on DIO16 and DIO17 as JTAG TDO/TDI as well.

Hi Alec,

I believe so. The R3SIPA contains all the components necessary for the device to function internally except the slow crystal. I recommend submitting your schematic and layout for review by our hardware team at the following link:

They will review your schematic and let you know if they spot any issues.
