CC2651R3: Flashing process without a PC

Part Number: CC2651R3

Tool/software:

Hi,

A colleague of ours in manufacturing had the following question:

Is it possible to run the flashing process without connecting it to a PC using a TI XDS 110 debug probe, essentially in a standalone configuration?

Could you please guide us with regards to the same?

  • Hi Kaiwalya,

You don't necessarily need a PC, but you will need some form of device to send the image over the serial interface. You could use an MCU.

The TI XDS110 debug probe is used to control the debug interface, I would not recommend using this one to program the CC device as well.

You may have noticed that the main device on the XDS110 debug probe is an MSP432. You could use this as an MCU and use it for programming the CC device. If so, I would not recommend using the debug interface to program the CC device. Rather, I would use the ROM bootloader on the CC device.

    Cheers,

    Marie H
