CC2340R5: About VDDR

Part Number: CC2340R5

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

We currently have a medical application that requires CC2340R5 to work with TI AFExxxx IC.

(CC2340 VDDS=3V, supplied by battery).

Please help confirm if  VDDR or GPIO of TI CC2340 can power the TI AFEXXXX IC

Thanks.

  • That would be GPIO, but GPIOs are limited to a max of 10mA depending on the which one you are using.

  • Hi Bun,

Thanks for the comment. I will let my customer know.

  • Hi Bun,

Please help to check the following question:

    1. CC2340 datasheet say that "The VDDR pins cannot be used to supply external circuitry."

My customer want to know if any other chance to use this pin to power TI AFEXXXX IC.

If yes, please help let us know the limitation.

    2. In the Sec7.21.4 of CC2340 datasheet,  the min voltage of GPIO VOH at 10 mA load  is 2.47 V (when TA = 25 °C, VDDS = 3.0 V)

In the target application, VDDS is connected to coin-cell battery.

When the voltage of coin-cell battery is down to 1.8V,  will  the min voltage of GPIO VOH at 10 mA load  keeps 2.47 V?

If the answer is No, please let us know the  min voltage of GPIO VOH at 10 mA load When the voltage of coin-cell battery is down to 1.8V.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Mike,

    1. VDDR cannot be used tp power other circuitries because the voltage regulation is designed to only the chip's current draw and any additional load will cause non-functionality.

    2. If the battery drops to 1.8V, the chip will automatically switch to GLDO mode and use the parameters below:

    Best regards,

    Bun
