CC2340R2: Benchmarks or test results for communication time in Advertising Mode

Part Number: CC2340R2

Tool/software:

Hi experts,

Do you have any benchmarks or test results for communication time in Advertising Mode?
Specifically, CC2340 (broadcaster):tramsmitt → Receive Device (observer):recieve

[Assumptions]
Neither the customer nor we are familiar with BLE.

- The ideal communication speed is around 30-50 ms.
This is a tentative time frame designed to ensure a natural feedback loop between the time the CC2340 transmits the data and the time the feedback is sent to the user.

- The receiving device is a PC or similar device.
After the CC2340 transmits the data, the PC processes it and provides feedback to the user.

[Preliminary Research]
From the URL below, we understand that the CC2340 transmission itself takes less than 10 ms and can be transmitted within 20 ms.

While there is a possibility of data dropouts on the receiving device side, we are currently working with a theoretical value that will prevent dropouts.

Please let us know if any information is insufficient.

  • Hi O.H.,

Thank you for reaching out. The fastest an advertising interval may be is 20ms. In those 20ms, the advertiser will send three identical advertising packets on different channels. One channel will be Channel 37 and afterwards in no more than 10ms, the next packet will be sent on channel 38, and less than 10ms after that the last one will be sent on channel 39. The process then repeats until advertising is off. The advertisement interval is the length of time between packets being sent on channel 37. On the scanning side, if the device is scanning on a given channel, then it should grab it and process it within a few ms. The exact speed will depend on the device, the environment, and scanning parameters.

If the advertiser is active and the scanner starts scanning within an ideal environment, it should be possible to receive the scan within 50ms.
