CC2540: PA/LNA for CC2540 recommend

If your customer wants to improve the range, they can use either the CC2590 or CC2592 range extenders in conjunction with the CC2540. A few references are available, which can help them make their decision.

The higher Tx power will definitely require a firmware change, since your customer must measure the RF performance of the modified system so it does not risk violating any Tx power limits of BLE.

Many years ago, the "G4" and "E4" suffixes were widely used to express Rohs/REACh compliant parts to differentiate from standard parts. This was the case until all the TI manufacturing procedures were completely migrated to Rohs/REACh. Once this happened, the naming convention was discontinued but still available for reference. 

In addition, as time went by, additional qualification steps were performed. This can be seen when comparing the standard with the "G4" variant

So, answering your question, get the CC2592RGVR.
