CC2340R5-Q1: application problem in SDK/HID/MAX address

Part Number: CC2340R5-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2340R5

Hi team

My customer steel mate has some problem:

The Iron General (a Chinese electronics company) has a project called "Great Yangtze" that requires the CC2340R5 chip. The requirement is to use the CC2340R5 as a BLE Bluetooth slave, connecting to a mobile app via the HID protocol and communicating with the MCU via serial port. Since I am unfamiliar with this chip, I have the following questions:

1. Based on the above requirements, which SDK version would you recommend? Which operating system, TIrtos or Freertos, would be more suitable and reliable? Which example code would be easier to use for development?

2. Does it support the HID protocol? Are there any example codes I can refer to?

3. Has the chip's MAX address been assigned, and can its uniqueness be guaranteed?

  • Hi Jerry,

Can you help me understand if this is an automotive or non-auto use case?

    1) The SDK can be found on ti.com: SIMPLELINK-LOWPOWER-F3-SDK Software development kit (SDK) | TI.com

    2) We have some support for HID, but not sure if it's on CC2340 yet. Would need to check.

    3) Yes, it's been assigned at production line. TI owns a lot of IEEE Address space for our devices.

Please let us know if it's an auto or non-auto use case and we can give it to the right team.

  • (1) This is an automotive use case.Specifically, it is used for electric motorcycles.

    (2) If it is confirmed that CC2340 cannot support HID, please inform me in time.

  • Hi,,

    I have a new question.

    I used the following routine:

    simplelink_cc2340r5_sdk\simplelink_lowpower_f3_sdk_9_14_00_39\examples\rtos\LP_EM_CC2340R5\ble\basic_ble

Where is the macro definition defined and can it be modified? For example, I want to set "PERIPHERAL_CFG" to 1.

  • Hello Pengchao,

Please look at the Sysconfg file to modify project macros and initializations. Thank you.

  • Hi,,

Have you finished checking this chip? If it supports HID protocol, can you provide some routines or tutorials?

  • Hello Pengchao,

If you want to see if the device supports HID, please look through the supported features at the CC2340R53 product page and TRM.

The CC2340R53 does not support HID protocol but can work with a device that supports HID protocol. From my understanding, these devices use SPI, UART or I2C to communicated between the CC2340R53 and the HID chip.

    Thanks,

    Isaac

  • Hi Isaac

The CC2340R53 does not support HID protocol but can work with a device that supports HID protocol.

Is it possible to support HID through subsequent software or will HID never be supported?

The following are the functional requirements related to HID. Please help me confirm whether this chip CC2340R5 can meet the requirements.

    HID pairing process:

    1. The lower computer judges that if the mac of the mobile phone has not been matched with the device and has not reached the matching upper limit, it initiates matching.
    2. The lower computer sends a message to the APP when it judges that matching needs to be initiated.
    3. Android (IOS doesn't do anything here)-After receiving the message, the APP initiates the request of HID security pairing.
    4. When the mobile phone receives the request, the pairing window pops up, and you can choose whether to pair or not.
  • Hello Jerry,

HID protocol can be implemented in software. This is achievable on the CC2340R5, and TI has done this before. I will see if I can find an example to share with you.

I am not familiar with the HID pairing process. The HID pairing process will have to be implemented as we do not have a software feature which implements it already.

    Thanks,
    Isaac
