CC2642R: How to stop internal clock fully

Hi,

We are using the CC2642R1 chip for BLE purpose. We want to close the internal clock fully and use only external, is it possible? if yes please let me know how we can use.

I tried xOSC with capp array but while i remove the external crystal and capacitor, it is also giving result without failure. I think it is automatically shifted internal clock, so let me know how I can stop internal clock

Hi Divyani,

Assuming that the LF XOSC has been selected as the LF clock source in your SysConfig Device Configuration, it may still be possible for the Power TI Driver to detect the absence of the external crystal during device initialization and set the LF clock to the RCOSC instead. You can see Section 7.7.1.1 of the TRM concerning clock loss detection, and the driverlib osc.c API description for further details as to selecting between LF sources.

That is the correct configuration for the operation you desire. As there is no access to fully stop the internal LF RCOSC, you could consider using OSCClockSourceGet(OSC_SRC_CLK_LF) in your application, and if OSC_RCOSC_LF is returned then you know there is an issue with switching to the XOSC_LF at start-up and can determine what further action to take (infinite while loop, user notification, etc).
