CC2540 LE only commands and SPI support

Hello all,

For my application, I need on one side to handle the CC2540USB Master (HostTestRelease) on a Linux distribution, and on the other side, to handle it in slave configuration using a microcontroller such as an msp430 to communicate over HCI layer using physical SPI.

I noticed that the current TI BLE stack does not support "LE only commands". For the moment, it worked with the "HCI vendor specific commands". I didn't try the other type for the moment but I suppose that it works too. However, I saw that LE commands may be working with the future version of the TI BLE stack. Same concerning the SPI support.

- Does anyone have more information about the release date of the 1.2 version? Or some news about “LE only commands” and SPI support?

- Is there any project around using an msp430 with the CC2540?

Hi Cedric :)

For the first question, I think 1.2 is going to be released on late February.

For the second question, take a look at:

SimpleLink solutions are just what you are looking for and I think TI is releasing a CC2540 soon, as they told me in another post. If not, you can always inspirate in the CC2530 option, there is plenty of info about CC2530 (very similar to CC2540) and MSP430.
