CC2745R10-Q1: Changing CAN data rate in runtime

Part Number: CC2745R10-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

My customer wants to change the data rate of CAN driver in runtime, but in SDK example the data rate parameter is generated by SysConfig and is a const in ti_drivers_config.c. Is there a way to change this parameter in runtime?

  • Hi Shuyang

What is the TX and RX side of the CAN connection? If change the data rate, both side will need to change, then what is the purpose of changing in the runtime?

  • Hi Barbara,

The customer has 2 different CAN devices connected to CC2745, using different data rate. They want to send the data rate through BLE, and CC2745 changes CAN data rate accordingly to communicate with one of the devices.

What they want to change is the Nominal Bit Rate.

  • Hi Shuyang,

If different CAN data rate is not used in the same time, then it is possible. The only approach is do CAN_close and  CAN_open with different CAN_config (which has different CAN data rate setting). The challenge here is, in sysconfig, we do not support multiple CAN_config for a single CAN object currently. So customized modification will be needed, may both in CAN_config[] in ti_drivers_config.c and CAN_open function in CAN.C. Customer can apply their change in CAN driver by drop the file into their project. ti_drivers_config.c is generated by sysconfig automatically, if changes needed, need to disable sysconfig and maintain output files manually.
