Bluetooth Camera

Hi all,

I am going to throw a question which has been intriguing me for quite a while... I was thinking if there is any development kit from TI which allows the user to develop a Bluetooth camera, i.e. a webcam which is connected to the PC by BT.

I know that there are Digital Media Processors which are capable of doing this, but those solutions are quite complex and expensive. Anyone has any idea of how this can be achieved using a simpler and cheaper method?

All ideas are welcome! :)

Hi Simon,

It looks like you are looking for a Wi-Fi based solution. I would recommend looking at our CC3000 Wi-Fi for MCU device.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I did take a look at the CC3000 Wifi for MCU device. I don't understand why you suggest Wifi instead of Bluetooth. I guess the challenge in this application is not the wireless communication layer, but how to interface a camera with the MCU. Am I correct?

If I use the CC3000 for MCU device, what MCU do you suggest? How would you interface the camera with the MCU?

Hi Simon,

The main reason is throughput. I am not sure you will get enough bandwidth with the BT+MCU solution. Of course, it will depend on the camera that you are using.

You might want to have a look at the Stellaris MCU family for this application.
