CC2340R5: MCU working current consumption

Part Number: CC2340R5
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ENERGYTRACE

Hi experts,

based on the datasheet, the MCU active current is 2.6mA. But customer's board current is 3.7mA.

Could you share your insights, what's the possible extra internal block working will introduce the delta 1.1mA?

  • BTW, there is not RF working
  • TI's SDK basic BLE is okay with minimum change to active MCU, working good on customers board. 2.6mA,
  • already cut all of the DIOs and configure the DIO to input/no pull.
  • tried to de-porting some of drivers, e.g. I2C, UART, Timer, Known applicaion tasks, no improvement.

  • Hello Albin,

But customer's board current is 3.7mA.

This was observed with EnergyTrace correct? Also does this 3.7 mA happen with the CC2340R5 LauchPad as well or is it just the customer board (custom pcb?).

    • TI's SDK basic BLE is okay with minimum change to active MCU, working good on customers board. 2.6mA,

The basic BLE showing the normal current on the board should be a good sign, in this case something might not be configured correctly.

    What SDK was this on?

    Thanks,

  • Hi Alex,

it is customer's current meter, no debugger attached.

the SDK version is F3 9.10.

Thanks for input, I am just looking for some hints with ideas.

Customer is making more SW test to debug this.

  • Hello Albin,

Thank you for your update! I will await your response.

If the software that causes 3.7 mA happens on both your custom board and LaunchPad it is an indication that something is possibly wrongly configured in software and we would need to look into.

    Thanks,
