CC2540 and legacy Bluetooth

Hi,

I'm working on a bluetooth application and was wondering if the CC2540 can support legacy bluetooth v.2.1 stack. I want to migrate to low energy v.4 once it has become more widespread in the mobile market. So can the CC2540 support earlier stack? It's not entirely clear to me if this chip is supported.

The CC2540 is a single mode chip and does not support bluetooth v2.1. It only works for bluetooth v4. The CC2540 only supports the BLE stack.

Chatto. Thank you for the reply. Is there a cheap dual-mode solution (comparable in cost to the CC2540) that can be used in the interim until v4 is more widespread?
