TI iPhone or iPad BLE app

Guru 22270 points

Where, Why can't I find any iPhone or iPad BLE apps in the App store?

I would have thought that Ti would have put it on the App store as a free app.  Even a simple app that just allowed you see when a button is pressed or get a temperature reading would do wonders for someone starting out.

Perhaps I am missing something, but how do you load the TI-BLE-Demo if you don't have a mac or you are not an Apple Developer?

You can't. The source code was published (http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Category:BluetoothLE) to give a head start for iOS developer to start using Core Bluetooth to communicate with our BLE solutions.

However, we are working on some Apps that may end up in App Store

  • Hello,

Can you tell me why you haven't posted the TI-BLE-Demo on the app store?  It would be a great help for thousands of PC users who are just starting out with Apple products and are doing it one painfully expensive product at a time.

  • Hi,

The reason is priority, we decided to release source code instead of going through the App Store process. That's then, now we know better and are working on putting Apps on App Store, for an upcoming kit.

    Best Regards.

  • What is preventing TI from putting the current TI-BLE-DEMO on the App store right now? The app works and I am sure that you have a developers account so unless there is some administration problem, I can't understand why it is not posted.

Is there also some kind of restriction from having an individual post the app?  I'm surprised no one has posted it or some variation of it in the App store.

  • You have the source code, what else do you want? :)

  • Helpful comments only, please!

For the thousands of people out there that don't own a mac or are not signed up as a Apple developer, the source code is, well useless.

If you own an iPhone or iPad and purchased the CC2540DK or Keyfob, it would be nice if the app (that is already created and working) was posted in the App store so you could at least do a simple test.

  • I too am in the same position, it is a brilliant ploy by Apple to sell more Macs unless anyone has come across a good PC platform for iphone / ipad development?

  • Use this as a good justification to your management to buy you a Mac. :)

Before posting the app on the app store, TI needs to fix it; the UUIDs in the app don't completely match the updated UUIDs in the code.

  • Derek,

If YOU have a Mac and you have corrected the problem with the UUIDs, then how about posting the app on the App Store?

I believe you can also allow people to test your app using TestFlight or even by using the standard Apple method of Distributing Apps.

So if YOU or any other Mac user with a developers account wants to be helpful or provide useful information to this posting, then please authorize anyone who request the app testing privilege.

    Thanks,
