Annoying IAR debug crash

I have found that the IAR IDE crashes when accidentally trying to "Download and Debug" to a target that is not connected or unpowered - progress bar runs but very slowly, subsequent attempts return an error. This is really annoying because the only way I have found to fix it is to restart the IDE. Has anyone else had this happen?

    I have not seen this problem myself. I assume you are using IAR for 8051, but what version of IAR are you using and what is your operating system? What debugger are you using and what is the firmware version of the debugger?

    Have you tried installing all the latest IAR patches (available from "My pages" on IAR.com)?
