Compatibility between BLE in Classic Bluetooth

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2541, CC2540

Hello,

I am developing a bluetooth based device. For this I came across TI's CC2540 & CC2541
SoCs.

I am unable to find out if they support Single Mode or Dual Mode BLE. Can anyone help?

Also can I connect a cell phone with BT version 2.1 with my device (if I develop it with either of these chips)?

  • The CC2540 and CC2541 are single mode devices.

Only Bluetooth 4.0 enable devices can communicate with single mode devices like the CC2540 and CC2541.

Quoting from a brief description of cc2540 on cc2540 web page:

"Combined with the Bluetooth low energy protocol stack from Texas Instruments,

the CC2540F128/F256 forms the market’s most flexible and cost-effective

    single-mode Bluetooth low energy solution."
