Low Power Bluetooth Application

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430BT5190, CC2530

I have an application I wish to develop but I am confused as to which kit I should order:

1) My application requires LOW POWER Bluetooth, not standard Bluetooth.

2) Do I order PAN1323EMK?

3) My LOW POWER Bluetooth must talk to standard Bluetooth devices, like phones and tablets.

4) I think I want to use the msp430bt5190 controller.

  • Hi!

    1) discards 4)

Is not called Bluetooth Low Power is Bluetooth Low Energy or Bluetooth Smart.

    2) NO

    3) This is the most important thing. If you want to talk to Bluetooth Smart phones, you need a CC2540DK or miniDK.

    Start with this, ok?

    Bye!

  • Wow! Thanks! I was off on a tangent.

miniDK is cheaper but is there a big advantage in the CC2540DK?

  • :) Please verify the thread if you are ok with the answer.

If you are not going to program other Ti chips, you can go for the miniDK.

I bought a CC2540DK and I'm very happy with it, because you can use some of the bigger boards in it to program other TI chips, such as Zigbee cc2530 things.

Otherwise, the miniDK will provide you with a USB dongle (most used for master things), a portable keyfob (most used for slave things and powered by coin cell batteries) and a programmer to flash both of these type of devices.

The DK comes with spare modules but in turns includes the two big boards with LCDs and so on, and you can reuse them for other things and you do not need a programmer :)

  • I am fine with the answer. I hope this means I am verifying the thread. Otherwise, I don't know how. I'm new to this type of communication.

  • Hi, there is no need to verify anything in fact :)

It is just to mark the question as "answered" to the external post view :)

We are all here to share and help.

    Good luck!
