Are the CC2530 and CC2540 fully hardware compatible? I'm most concerned about pins 1->4 which in the 2530 are GND and on the 2540 are the USB interface and power. Elsewhere on the TI forums the claim is made of pin compatibility.
If I ground pins 1 through 4 to work with the 2530, will the 2540 still work on the same PCB?
Has anyone actually tried grounding pins 1 through 4 on the CC2540?
I have no need for USB. Thank you.
p.s. The TI app engineer didn't feel like figuring this out, and sent me to the forums. I pity the folks using National chips now, previous to the merger a very smart engineer would answer your emails or phone calls.
