Simple data link

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2560

I have to integrate a Bluetooth wireless data link into my design.

All I care about is a RS232 115200,8N1  interface to my design.

Somehow I am looking in the wrong place...

Anybody any suggestion for a module... plug in and go.

I bought the eZ430-RF256X kit and this has some connections for a UART,

yet I cannot find ANY sensible documentation about it. other than playing the "penguin game"

  • We don't have any plug n play but with the Bluetopia stack, you can change a few command to do what you want to do.

  • My query is similar to Kurt's.

I want to add Bluetooth to an existing product that already has a processor (a DSP) and an avalaible UART

I want to use EDR because an effective data rate of 1MBit/s or so is desirable, so in effect all I want is a 'Bluetooth UART'.

The Bluetooth "SPP" seems to offer what I want.

Looking at your CC2560 data sheet it appears to have all of the requisite hardware however it is difficult to deduce from the data sheet what else is needed.

Can you please clarify the following:-

    (1) To implement a Bluetooth UART is the CC2560 (plus aerial, clock and power supply) all that I need?

(1A) Does the CC2560 need to be programmed?

    (2) Or do I also need a processor running at least part of the Bluetooth stack?

(2A) If I do need a processor to run the Bluetooth stack then does it have to be an MPS430 (or Stellaris)?

(2B) I am tight on board area, could I run the Bluetooth stack on my DSP and if so what are the licensing implications?

    Thanks for you help.
