Bluetopia stacks, profiles and ANT+ for Stellaris

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2564, CC2571

1. If I want to develop a bluetooth + ANT project and Stellaris  arm is used, how many kinds of software loyalties are needed and charged?

All I can find are about "demo" and only some functions are provided, but I can't find enough information about the total software solutions  for this scenario : Stellaris+bluetooth+ANT+.

2. Are these BT profiles available in Stellaris?: HFP, HSP, A2DP, AVRCP

3. What software solution is provided for ANT+ ?

  • Hi,

Adding ANT to a CC2564/67 (BT + ANT chip) is fairly straightforward, and to my knowledge you will not be required to pay additional royalties for using these parts beyond what you would regularly pay your distributor for them but you should confirm first with your stack supplier and distributor. Beyond that such as trademark usage or so on is unfortunately beyond my expertise.

BlueKitchen does provide an open-source BT+ANT stack for the Stellaris SDK and other devices with full support for BT profiles, they recently posted a news link here. You can contact their commercial arm here.

Otherwise another stack supplier may be StoneStreetOne if you contact them about their stack support for BT+ANT.

    Cheers

  • Thanks!

Besides BQB for bluetooth profiles, the bluetooth stack itself should be certificated by bluetooth lab. And the bluetooth stack depends on the software solution.

It becomes so complicated to decide the software solutions and this decision also depends on MSP MCU or stellaris.

Though the hardware chip is so fancy to combine Bluetooth, bluetooth LE, ANT+, but if I just want to focus on the higher level software integration without caring about the underlying bluetooth stack and ANT stack, I can not find an easy way out to get all together.

If I use a discrete chip solution by a BT chip and a ANT chip and both of the chips/modules are certified and listed , the board size may be larger, but it seems the software should be easier.

  • I can't really speak to standalone Bluetooth chips, but if you do decide to go with independent modules I would expect the coding to be a little easier, and with much less worry from co-existence issues blocking messages with multiple protocols trying to use the same radio simultaneously. You can look up more information about a CC2571 based module here. Most of the reference code supplied on the thisisant.com website is written for the MSP430.

    Cheers
