Connecting MSP430BT5190 with MindTree SDK toan Android device

Hi,

For the longest time I've been working on applications that would allow bt connection between an Android device and an embedded prototype we have developed.

For about a year now I was able to establish a connection between the two, using 6 Android devices I had in my disposal.

Today, I've tried some new Android devices, to realize that the connection fails, some Android devices fail with a "Permission denied" IOException, and the other Android devices causes the sdk to crash with the SDK_WRONG_EVENT_RECEIVED, I've monitored the received ACL events on the embedded program and have put the data into the following table, what you see are the event types received:

The S3, Note 2 receive a permission exception...

The Nexus 7 causes the SDK to crash with the SDK_WRONG_EVENT_RECEIVED error...

NOTE: The working device but not all of them are older version of android, all the devices which are of version 4.0+ does not work and fail with the reasons above.

If I'm not mistaken the 0x18 event (HCI_LINK_KEY_NOTIFICATION_EVENT) is not called, and that is why things don't work...

I've also encountered this, and tried it out, but it didn't work, it just didn't crash the application, and simply received an ACL disconnection event.

I've also tried to play with the 5040.sdk_bluetooth_common_config.h but it seem to have  no effect... :(

Thanks in advance,

Adam Zehavi.

  • I would like to extend the fact that this project is based on the Accelerometer Demo project for the kit, where all the code related to the BT behavior was unchanged, I've only extended the demo application, and implemented an application of our own needs.

I would also like to add that the error is not Android version dependent, and it is seem somewhat manufacturer dependent because the same error occur with same manufacturer phones, regardless of their Android OS version or Phone type. That been said, I must also stress out that I only had access to maximum two devices of the same manufacturer.

This is a serious issue, and the only thing that prevents our startup and prototype from moving to the stage.

Any assistance/thought/constructive input/link would be a great deal, because I don't have any idea where to start looking what is wrong.

    Thanks in advance,

    Adam.
