Hi All,

I just wanted to know if there is any way( tool/application or any such support) to check the memory leaking in the CC2541 firmware. I am using the peripheral mode and my device locks up after certain time of connection establishment. So that why I was thinking if there is any memory leak in the application or stack side and wanted to validate the same.

I am using the IAR for my development.

Yes I am using my customized hardware. But I am using the same hardware since very long( 7 months or so) And I have never faced any issue till now.

Is this, so called, memory leak can be easily reproduced while you debugging your firmware from IAR

with CC Debugger (or smartRF05EB)?

Well, first of all, if you are utilizing BLE stack, search for halAssertHandler function in the code and set

a breakpoint on either HAL_SYSTEM_RESET(), halAssertHazardLights(), or while(1)... depends on

your compilation options.

When you say your device gets "locked up" are you sure it's not keep on operating?

What are the symptoms of this "lock up"?

Hi,

If you suspect a stack overflow, you could have a look at View->Stack in IAR. It will display current stack level (green) and high watermark(dark grey).

If you leak memory via malloc, I can't help you. If you are using osal_malloc, you could enable OSALMEM_METRICS(as seen in OSAL_Memory.c) and look at the memMax variable.

Hi Aslak,

Sorry for the delay. But now we implemented the firmware in such a way that when this scenario happens then we will reset the chip externally the CC2541.
