PAN1327 distance and throughputs

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2571

Greetings,

I am doing a comparative study on wireless modules out there. I saw this part teamed up with a TI uC running its own BT/ANT+ Stack.

I am curious if there are any realistic measurements out there on:

1) Bluetooth mode throughput

2) ANT mode throughput

3) Bluetooth mode max distance

4) ANT mode max distance (max distance between two nodes, ie no node-hopping)

  • Hi,

While unfortunately I do not have real world measurements for you I can give some thoughts.

ANT Advanced Bursting is the fastest ANT messaging type available on the PAN1327 and can transmit to a maximum of 60kbps which is relatively consistent depending on your RF environment.

The datasheet states that the full BT2.1+EDR spec is support, up to 2178kbps asymmetric for the BT portion of the PAN1327, you should be able to see this most of the time but again it is heavily dependent on the RF environment at the time.

ANT and BT max distance should very similar to one another. On an ANT CC2571 module the typically rated max distance is 30-50m at 0dBm transmission power (line of sight, clean RF environment). The PAN1327 is capable of transmitting at 10.5dBm so the max range will be larger than what is quoted for 0dBm.

    Cheers
