Maximum number of Slave connection for CC2540 Bluetooth Low Energy

Hi guys,

I am new to this forum. Currently we are designing a system using CC2540 Bluetooth 4.0 module. I wanted to know what is the maximum number of BLE slaves is currently supported? I heard it was 3 slaves in the earlier firmware release. Can someone clarify?

I think the information for the CC254x in that link is wrong. According to the 1.3 Developer's Guide pg. 12: Currently, the BLE central stack supports up to three simultaneous connections.

You might be right. The CC254x-oriented wiki page: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/BLE_-_FAQ also refers to 3 (not 4 as in the post I linked to). I guess the best way is to get the BLE stack and dig into changelog.

I have been make some experiments with more than one slave per master.

Which a reason for the maximum number of slaves be 3 ? Do you now ?

The reason I think that is the case is that there are only 3 channels available for the bluetooth communication to take place that are given as an option.

1 slave per channel.

The reason for this is that the CC2541 does not have enough resources (RAM) to handle more connections simultaneously.

thanks for your time and responses.

Peyton Davari, when you say 3 channels, you're referring to 3 advertising channels ? Each slave advertises in one channel and for that we can only have 3 ?

svendbt, relatively to RAM, there are some test that can I do for testing how much ram a salve spend ?

In this moment, if I had 1slave for 1 master, I can send 3-4 notifications(slave -> master) per connection event but when I connect (testing in btool) more than one slave, each slave only send one notification per conection event.

So if BLE in CC2540 alows 4 notifications per connection event and when I have multiple salves each one only sends one notification, BLE should alow 4 slaves, right ?. I think that way, it's my opinion. What you think ?
