We're developing a wireless microphone system where multiple mono microphones connect to a single receiver. We have been using the cc85xx series in our prototypes with great success. Our goal is to stream uncompressed audio from two separate mono microphones.
We are now evaluating the cc256x for this purpose, and several questions have come up.
1) The datasheet for the cc256x mentions a "transparent (uncoded)" coding scheme for a2dp. This seems to fit the requirement of uncompressed audio streaming, but I haven't been able to find any additional information on it. Does this mode work solely between cc256x family chips, or will it work across chipsets (for smartphone compatibility)? How would one modify the existing bluetopia examples to activate this mode as an audio source?
2) Connecting multiple mono sources via A2DP will require one cc256x to act as a master, sinking audio from the other microphone and sourcing audio to another device. Is this correct? Is it possible?
3) What development kits do you recommend for prototyping our application now? I know that TI is working on an audio dev kit and wiki entry - can anyone chime in with an ETA on these?
If only every smartphone, tablet, and laptop had a cc8530 inside, this stuff would be comparatively simple - alas.
