After some hours of research with the official software and the OAD sample code I'm pretty sure that there is a problem on the iPhone 5S (maybe the 64 bit?) only.
The firmware gets transferred but the LED is not flashing, which means the checksum check did fail.
On the iPad mini on iOS7 everything is working fine, today I will try also on the new iPad Air.
