cc2564 I2S interface and SLAA449A App Note

In our prototype design we would like tio play around with I2S/PCM interface on cc2564, but we do not have I2S or PCM interface exposed on MCU. The idea is to use SPI in oder to acomplish the task, an in particular the following TI Application Report - SLAA449A - "Interfacing an I2S Dvice to an MSP430 Device". App note shows how  use MSP430 SPI port and 4-bit counter with D-type flip-flop in order to implement 16-bit left-justified mode (master). What is not clear to me is if this arrangement will work with cc2546 (can't get definite answer from cc2564 Data Sheet or PAN1323 Data Sheet). Before taking soldering iron in my hands, can somebody from TI confirm that this will work? And it it will, how I shold set HCI_VS_Write_CODEC_Config command parameters?
