CC2540/CC2541 at low power modes

Hi,

I just want to clarify if it is mandatory to use 32kHz external oscillator at low power modes? Is there any advantage aside from timer accuracy? Based from the user manual it seems that 32kHz RCOSC works fine at low power modes and its main advantage is lower power consumption and reduce cost as well.

Appreciate your thoughts on this.

You get the lowest power consumption by using the 32kHz RCOSC for the sleep timer. 32kHz external crystal OSC gives better aquracy. It is simply a trade off which is application dependent.
