Is it possible to send 5Kb of data over BLE using a BlueRadio module?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2540

Hi,

I would like to send at most 5 Kb of data using BLE as the interface. I have seen that it's possible, regardless that BLE isn't designed for that purpose, to send a big amount of data: http://e2e.ti.com/support/low_power_rf/f/538/t/220861.aspx

They are using the BT TI Stack. I have also seen that I would have to pay $ 4K to be able to reprogram the firmware of the chip provided by TI ( I mean the CC2540/41 using or not the evaluation module). Is that right?

To keep lower my costs I am thinking of using one of the modules of BlueRadio. Can I send 5 Kb of data using them? How much money would I need for the development software/hardware of BlueRadio modules?

Thank you!

PS: I also think that using a turnkey module would be easier... That's another reason to go for BlueRadio

  • Hello,

I'm not sure about pricing of dev tools. If they use our library and stack qualification then you would need IAR. IAR comes with 30 day, and you can request extension.  Another option is to use CC2540 as network processor and drive with an external MCU. high data rate in this case is more difficult due to UART processing though.

Here are some of our module makers. Some have done their own stack and would have non-IAR development tools.
