Maximum BLE packet per connection interval in iOS?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2541

Hi all,

With the overlapping process in stack 1.4 now CC2541 able to transmit more than 4 packets per connection interval. I have seen the previous post: http://e2e.ti.com/support/low_power_rf/f/538/p/309094/1127621.aspx that iOS is able to handle maximum 6 packets per interval.

I have tried to search the 6 packets limit per interval in apple bluetooth guidelines, but I couldn't find any reference. Could someone help me where this numbers come from?

Thank you

Handi

  • Hello,

This is implementation specific, and may even be dynamic - for example if the phone is busy on wifi or bluetooth, then is may scale back . I don't have any details on this though. There is not limit in BT SIG spec though.

  • The connection interval say when the devices must do handshaking when there are no packets to be sent. Your central or peripheral device will send as many packets as its wants to as fast as it can.
