How to run the Bluetooth RF test with WL1835mod?

You have to download the service pack(BTS) before the Continues TX test.

I am not sure what do you mean by prototype, but you can use this script for TI WL18xx modules https://github.com/TI-ECS/bt-firmware/blob/master/Bluetopia_InitScript_for_TI_WL8.zip

To update the baud rate please use the below command

1) I have difficulty to run all the commands in the BTS script. It fails at some where in the beginning part of BTS. I have not pin down the exact command.

2) Without the BTS downloading, I am able to run the Continuous TX test by sending that two HCI commands. It seems the module is initialized properly after power-up.

How are you downloading the BTS script(from the stack, or any tool)? what is the stack you are using?

As I mentioned you need to download BTS script before this operations. How are you sending the HCI commands to the chip are you using the "SS1Tool cmd" tool?

Yes you can communicate with the chip using the HCI commands, before downloading the BTS script, CC256x will be ready for BT operations only after the BTS script is downloaded.

I made the UART port accessible through an external RS232 and use TI BTSOut tool in Windows. It failed at some place which I do not know exactly.

At the same time, I am able to use both HCI Tester and our firmware code to send HCI commands down to the UART port. We have to edit the XML to add both commands for HCI Tester.

Since I just start RF test, I am still not so sure if I need run all the HCI commands in BTS script. It will be clear pretty soon.

If I understand correctly, you are not using any host processes and directly trying to work with the WL18xx, right? 

Can you please use the HCI tester to download the service pack to see where exactly it is failing. 

It is not possible to run the BTS through HCI tester. Do you have a quick way to translate the BTS to the script for HCI Tester?

I have two ways talking to WL1835. One is with HCI tester. The other one DSP connecting to UART of WL1835.

It seems there is no problem to run all the HCI commands at the RF test wiki.

Hi Hailin,

As far as I know you can open the BTS file from HCI tester and execute the script. But you need to change the status of every command to "any".

Anyway try with this attached file 3566.TIInit_11.8.32.txt 

The script fails right at the first command after baud rate change.

So I have added the wait_HCI_Command_Complete for baud rate change into the script. Then it runs through OK till the end.

However I think in the BTS file, the baud rate is changed to 3,000,000. Is there any reason for that?

To operate at high baud rate, If your host processes does not support you can lower it
