BLE CC2541 device in ios7 current consumption too high

Use TI 1.4.0 firmware, Profile is Sensor-Tag, In device with host connected,
Measurement power consumption of ios7, Different other operation system, Like windows 8,
In this case is normal ? How can I fix this problem ?

Device no active, Current consumption below:

 OS1: IOS 7.1 : 830uA
 OS2: Win8 : 0~260uA

Use HidEmukbd profile have same situation, In IOS7.1 current consumption too high,
But windows 8 or android 4.4 no this situation....

  • Hello,

    Most likely they are using different connection parameters (connection interval, slave latency). If you have a scope you can check for interval.  Using TI USBDongle as sniffer, you can also check connection parameters. Also, in peripheral.c you could add code to log GAP_LINK_ESTABLISHED_EVENT and GAP_LINK_PARAM_UPDATE_EVENT

    While sensor tag can suggest connection parameter values, the central device always has final decision on settings.

  • Hi~

    You are right,

    They are using different connection parameters, Use TI sniffer tool, Capture the packet of ADV_CONNECT_REQ, Connection parameters are below

                      IOS7        Win8

    interval:  0x0018,   0x0060

    latency:  0x0000,   0x0000

    timeout: 0x0048,   0x03C0

    In my firmware try update connection parameters, But it's invalid !!

    bCIUpdateConnParams = TRUE;

    wDesired_Min_Interval = 400;

    wDesired_Max_Interval = 800;

    GAPRole_SetParameter( GAPROLE_MIN_CONN_INTERVAL, sizeof( uint16 ), &wDesired_Min_Interval );

    GAPRole_SetParameter( GAPROLE_MAX_CONN_INTERVAL, sizeof( uint16 ), &wDesired_Max_Interval );

    GAPRole_SetParameter( GAPROLE_PARAM_UPDATE_REQ, sizeof( uint8 ), &bCIUpdateConnParams );

    So you mean connection parameter only decision by operation system !?

    In this case, I can't change IOS7 connection interval value ?  The current consumption can't be reduced ?

    Can you please enlighten me on how to optimize power consumption in IOS7.

    Because this current consumption can't use in long-term consumer products.

    Particular the use of mercury (coin cell) batteries.

    Any help is grateful ~
