Hello,

I would like to implement IP over BLE connection with my MCU. The MCU would use the lwip stack (or equivalent) that connects to BLE. I saw the PAN (Personal Area Network) profile helps for such a task.

Did someone succeed in doing such a work?

Hi Michel.

The biggest challenge here is that Bluetooth low energy is designed for low power and has, for example, only 20 Bytes allowed application data, so you'd need to fragment manually or figure out a good mechanism for this.

There are some work going on to enable 6LowPAN over BLE but I do not know the latest information regarding that. It's an interesting topic, so if you have any suggestions, keep us updated.

I did some search and discovered the BLE 4.1 specification integrates the IP :-)

So my question is now: when the BLE-Stack for CC254x will support BLE 4.1? Someone already asked for the question, without response, in: http://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless_connectivity/f/538/t/309297.aspx

I am also interested in the same topic. And I found this chip supporting the Bluetooth 4.1 stack.

But I think what will be more interesting is that to find software support for implementing IP over bluetooth 4.1.

Hi Jan,

BLE-STACK V2.2.0 supports Bluetooth 4.2, but we have not implemented any functionality using IPv6.
