Shielding the CC2541

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2592, CC2541, CC2538

Dear Sir / Madam,

The application I'm working on consist of the CC2592 and the CC2541. The reference design of CC2592 based on the CC2538 in combnination with the CC2592 uses a shielding for the range extender only.

My questions are:

1) I assume that I will need to shield the CC2592 as well. Is my assumption correct?

2)  Do I need to shield the CC2541 as well?

Thanks in advance

  • Hi Marthijn,

It depends a bit on your application and what certification you are targeting. With the CC2592 running at full output power you need the shield to be FCC compliant. ETSI compliance with full output power is borderline, meaning that you have to test your board to check if you need it or not.

If you are developing a BLE application, remember that output power for BLE is limited to 10 dBm.

    Cheers,

    Fredrik
