Hi,

I would like to use the CC2540 usb dongle to perform a sort of terminal emulation to an iOS device. I know that iOS does not provide the SPP profile, instead there is the Cable Replacement Profile.

I would like to know if it is possible to use the dongle for exchanging messages between a PC and iOS (iPhone4S and above) device.

All of these are certainly possible; however TI does not have examples of any of them. The easiest way to exchange data between a PC and an iOS device would be to use an application in which the iOS device acts as a peripheral and the GATT server, and then use the CC2540USB dongle with BTool as the central. From BTool you can connect to the phone and discover characteristics in the GATT server, and then read or write data.
