More Noob Questions

I have the CC2540 Development Kit and two CC2541 evaluation modules. I'm currently reading through the software developer's guide, but I thought I'd post a few quick total noob questions in the meantime:

- If I want one of the EMs to communicate wirelessly with my laptop which doesn't have BTLE, can I use the CC2540 dongle that came with the kit or do I need to purchase a BTLE dongle elsewhere?

- Once I establish a connection between the EM and my laptop, what application would I use to monitor the data coming in? BLE Packet Sniffer? Or perhaps BTool?

Hi,

You can use the 2540 USB dongle as a network processor with your laptop running(BLE device Monitor or BTool) to receive/send packets sent/receive by CC2541 EM connected to smartRF05 EB or Sensor tag.

The type of application which you may use in your PC(BLE device Monitor or BTool) depends upon whether what firmware is flashed to the USB dongle.

If you are using CC2540/41 DK or Mini Development Kit, the Btool firmware would be flashed by default to cc2540USB dongle.

You can always burn the firmware project using flash programmer using a CC Debugger too.
