FCC ID Help Required

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2540

I have produced a device based upon the CC2540 keyfob design - and also created an iPhone APP that controls it.

I need to send a sample to Apple for the APP to be approved, and they have said I have to fill in an FCC Form 740 - which required an FCC approval ID.

Am I right in thinking the modules are already approved? and if so Where can I find the Id?

Thanks for any help

Phil

  • Hello Phil,

The KeyFob does have FCC approval.  The easiest way to find the FCC ID is to look on the bubble wrap that the KeyFob was in.  I'm not sure if it is on any of the documents that come in the box.

The KeyFob design is Qualified, but you still have to do other test to make sure it is compliant.  For more details on FCC and qualification you can visit the How To Certify Your Bluetooth Product. http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/How_to_Certify_your_Bluetooth_product

    Thanks,

  • Thanks Greenja - I only need this initially so I can complete the relevant forms to send a device to APple for the APP to be authorised. Do you think I could use the KeyFob FCC Id - to get my device trough customs?

  • Hello Phil,

You would not be able to use the FCC ID from the KeyFob on your own device.  If your App is designed to work with the CC2540 KeyFob, then the best solution would be to send the KeyFob.

A new design would have to be Bluetooth SIG Qualified and the device would require its own FCC ID.  Unless you modified the KeyFob according to the permissive changes you will have to file for new equipment authorization.

    Thanks,
